The number one question that I get asked about them is, “which one will replace my 4 or 5 iron?” That is a question that I can’t answer. The reason I can’t answer it is they are two differently designed clubs. Say you have a standard 28 degree 5 iron and you get the same loft in a hybrid, you will hit the hybrid farther and higher. That is because it has more weight at the bottom and will resist an off-center hit it is also longer.
What you need to do is find out the distance you are trying to reach and try out different lofts as well as different manufactures. A Ping 20 degree hybrid. May go farther than a 19 degree Cobra. Every company has different standards. So the best advise I can give you is come out to Eagle Ridge or any course that will let you try them out at the range and see which one covers the distance you want. Get on the boat. Play well.
