When the dog and cat look like shaggy floor mops, the furniture is covered with strands of white and black hairs, and the kitchen floor is all scratched because of Buster the dog’s long nails and Fluffy the cat just smells terrible, it’s time to do something. Long-time pet groomer, owner of the The Grooming Edge Brandy Fletcher, and her staff can help turn a pet back into that short-haired and well-maintained dog or cat you used to know.

The Grooming Edge is a full-service pet grooming shop that will clip animal’s nails, trim their hair and give them a good scrubbing. They also carry a wide variety of pet toys, treats, foods and accessories such as collars and leashes. The Grooming Edge also offers a pet sitting service for owners of pets who are leaving town for business or vacation. In addition, every Wednesday is senior pick-up, a same day service where the staff comes to the homes of senior citizens who are unable to drive their pets to the shop. The staff pick the animals up, wash them, trim them up and return them home.

“It’s been something I always wanted to do,” Fletcher said of the shop. “I love animals.”

Pet owners from as far away as Santa Cruz, San Jose, Modesto and Monterey bring their furry little friends into The Grooming Edge.

“People who lived here years ago, and moved, still bring in their pets,” Fletcher said. “That’s good clientele.”

Some of her clients even have pets that compete in high- end dog shows. They march in their little champions to be trimmed and bathed.

The staff of three also brings their share of experience and love for animals into the shop as well. As Snow Rivera, the manager of the shop clipped the long hairs off Gracie, a little white ball off energy, Gracie couldn’t help herself and turned around every second to jump up on Snows shoulders and give little pecking kisses.

“She’s a very good dog,” Rivera said.

The Groomers Edge is open Tuesday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and every other Saturday. It is located at 191 San Felipe Rd., Suite Q, in Hollister.
