In a battle between two baseball teams with 11-player rosters, the Anzar High squad fell to Robert Louis Stevenson School 5-2 Wednesday.

Hawks pitcher Neil Fereirra pitched six strong innings, whiffing eight Pirates batters and yielding five hits. He walked two.

Jesus Perez was the hitting star for the Hawks with a two-run blast in the sixth inning.

“We’re competing well,” said Anzar coach Leroy Dozal. “If we can get the bats going, we’ll be tougher to beat. The guys are working hard and going after it. The basics are down. Now it’s time to put the ball in play.”

The Hawks are 1-4 overall and 0-3 in the Mission Trail Athletic League.
