The Hollister High boys golf team went to 2-0 on the year with a
team total of 162 at Salinas Country Club Tuesday. The Balers nosed
out Live Oak at 166 and North Salinas at 180.

The four players whose scores counted for the Balers were Ian Hudson and Zach Zgragen, who both shot 40, and Matt Vigilante and John Dempsey, who carded 41s. Matt Lopez had a 45, while Derek Lee shot a 48 for Hollister.
The Balers return to Salinas Country Club on Monday for the Monterey Bay Invitational which has an 11 a.m. start.
Another 6-1 loss for the Baler boys tennis team at Gilroy on Tuesday, its fifth 6-1 loss in a row. The lone win came in No. 3 doubles where Mario Zaragoza and Ryan Watson teamed up for a three-set victory. The Balers went without Michael Blake and Perry Marks, there Nos. 2 and 3 singles, respectively. Cameron Barker was moved up to No. 2 singles and battled hard in a 3-6, 5-7 loss. Pablo Andrade and Isidro Trujillo kept it close at No. 1 doubles, losing 1-6, 4-6.
The Balers are at Palma Thursday.
Hollister softball is at the eight-team Watsonville Tournament this Saturday. The first round opponent is tentatively Wilcox at 9:30 a.m. The Chargers eliminated the Balers from the Central Coast Section Division I playoffs last season at PAL Stadium. Monterey, Half Moon Bay and Aptos are slated to be in the field.
“We can stock some points for CCS if we can beat those teams because I think they will win their leagues,” said Scott Smith, first-year varsity head coach.
Also on Saturday is a baseball doubleheader with Paso Robles visiting the Balers’ diamond. Games are at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m..
The Baler track and field teams are at the Wildcat Relays in Soquel this Saturday.
Swimming at Live Oak in a big meet Friday at 3 p.m.
