Caltrans is set to close a portion of Highway 129 near the San Benito/Santa Cruz County line for five days.
The closure is expected to start Sunday, April 30 at 9 p.m. and end Friday, May 5 at 11 p.m, according to a press release.
A major curve realignment project near Aromas will continue on a half-mile portion of the eastbound and westbound highway during the closure.
Graniterock of Watsonville is the contractor for the $4.5 million project.
The project will improve traveler safety by realigning the highway to increase the curve radius and sight distance at that location, the press release states. Road work is scheduled to be done in June 2017.
Electronic message boards will be activated this week to alert motorists of the work. Motorists are advised to take an alternate route or use the detour map above.
