The increasingly famous martial arts father-son duo from Hollister – Nathan and Noah Fort – took their talents to the HP Pavilion last weekend and performed during an arena football game’s halftime show.
The Forts were prominently involved in the Ernie Reyes-led World Action Team and its San Jose performance Saturday night during halftime of the SabreCats game against the Chicago Rush.
Along with the other performers, about 30 to 40 of them, they conducted a synchronized, action-packed martial arts demonstration involving a series of kicks, punches and flips. The Forts were featured for a weapons demonstration during the show.
Nathan Fort said there were about 8,000 to 9,000 people at the game that had been moved from Chicago to San Jose.
They did their demonstration with bo staffs, which Nathan Fort made himself.
“They loved what we did,” the father said. “We got a huge reaction from the crowd.”
While the Forts both have won numerous martial arts championships and are considered elite internationally in competition, Reyes noticed them at a tournament about a year and a half ago and asked them to perform with the group. They’ve been doing it ever since. One of their recent memories was from a trip to Las Vegas last year. They performed at The Venetian and got a standing ovation.
“We’re doing really, really high-level tricks with the bo staff that probably only a handful of people in the world can do,” Nathan Fort said of the black belts.
As for the younger Fort, he called the arena show “very exciting” – and said his goal is to reach the masters level in karate and open his own school.
