WATSONVILLE
A slow start in the first half led to the Anzar girls’ basketball team’s undoing on Monday night against Pajaro Valley, as the visiting Hawks could not keep pace and fell by a 39-20 margin.
“A really bad first half,” Anzar head coach Sam Stewart said. “We just couldn’t score.”
Anzar was limited to just six points in the first two quarters. Although it scored 14 in the second half, it was simply not enough to top Pajaro Valley.
The loss drops the Hawks to 1-10 on the season.
Anzar is off for the holidays and won’t return to the court until Monday, Jan. 3, when it will host KIPP San Jose Collegiate in San Juan Bautista. Tip-off is 6 p.m.
