Editor,

In reference to your Red Phone’s request for help from Boy Scout Troop 777 to drill holes for flag poles to line San Benito Street for specific national holidays and parades, I have the solution.

When Hollister’s Redevelopment Agency paid hundreds of thousands of dollars recently to beautify downtown Hollister with decorative brickwork and paving of its sidewalks, they omitted several items. Replacement of the downtown mailbox had quite a few calls from Red Phone to the Post Office, then the sidewalk trash cans were requested to be replaced.

This omission needs to be dealt with the same way! We did have flag pole holes in the sidewalks before the beautification project. The RDA needs to be contacted so that they can, in turn, contact the contractor to replace what they eliminated when they repaved the concrete surrounding the sidewalk brick.

It is not the responsibility of the Boy Scout Troop to remedy the mistakes/omissions of the RDA or the contractor! Good luck Troop 777, keep up the good work!
