The Hollister School District Board of Trustees recently honored 10 teachers of the year from throughout the district, as well as three administrators of the year.

The teacher honorees and their schools were:

Jenny Molina (Calaveras); Susan Bessette (Accelerated Achievement Academy); Debbie Benitez (Cerra Vista); Tami Ortiz (Gabilan Hills); Deanna Lane (Hollister Dual Language Academy); Blanca Garza (Ladd Lane); Elena Hatchett (R.O. Hardin); Carline Barminski (Southside); Roxanne Lino (Maze); and Lisa Jelinek (Rancho San Justo).

Administrators from the Hollister School District were recognized by the Association of California School Administrators, Region 10, during an award dinner May 7 in Monterey.

Three administrators from the district were recognized for outstanding service in their fields.

The winners and their awards were:

Karen Lopes (special education administrator of the year); Delia Gomez (elementary principal of the year); and Cindy Cordova (middle school principal of the year).

In other district news, trustees appointed Judi Johnson to replace Michal Query, who resigned from the board. Johnson was administered the oath of office on May 22 and will serve on the board until the next regular board election on Nov. 6.

Trustees chose to make a provisional appointment rather than hold a special election.
