Jack was introduced to our family in basket full of kittens that had been abandoned in a field in 2007. A friend of ours rescued the litter and brought them to our school fall festival to find homes for them. We brought him home to our family. With fall leaves on the ground and pumpkins throughout our neighborhood, we named of Jack.
Jack will jump over fences from neighboring yards when he hears us come outside just to say “hello” and then quickly roll onto his back hoping for a tummy scratch. However, he insists on being lifted up to his perch where his food is kept (high away from our yellow lab, Dutch, who will eat ANYTHING).
Jack loves drinks from a faucet or broken sprinkler head. He loves to be brushed – especially on his face. He loves “playing hockey” with the plastic seal from the lid of a gallon milk bottle. And what cat can resist an open paper grocery bag?
Jack knows when you need extra attention. A few years back, I was being treated for cancer and Jack was so supportive. Through surgery, radiation, full recovery and remission he was a comfort to me along with family and friends.
He is Dutch’s buddy. We brought Dutch home as a puppy four months after we got Jack. I’m sure Dutch would love to join Jack on his midnight adventures. Every now and then we catch Dutch giving him a quick lick on the top of Jack’s head as Jack walks by him.
Yes, Jack has been a true friend to our family. We love him dearly.
