Donald Vis, Jr., 32

A judge has sentenced a Hollister man to 16 years in prison for raping a girl – who was age 13 at the time – twice in 2010.
Judge Steven Sanders last week sentenced Donald Vis, Jr., age 32, to state prison for two separate rapes that occurred, along with two related counts of lewd or lascivious acts and another one for sending harmful matter to a child.
Vis in September pleaded no contest – which carries the same consequences as a guilty plea – to the five felony counts related to his raping the girl in October and November of 2010, according to court records. Investigators have noted that Vis knew the girl before the incidents.
Sanders sentenced him to the 16-year term, while Vis was credited with 288 days of time served.
Hollister police in February received information about an adult male having sex with a minor. Detectives developed evidence and made arrangements for the suspect to meet the victim in a public place, according to police.
The suspect arrived to the location in Hollister, but was met by officers and detectives who arrested him. Vis was booked into the San Benito County Jail and had bail set at $1 million.
District Attorney Candice Hooper in a press release noted the “outstanding work done by the Hollister Police Department, led by Sgt. George Ramirez, in the crucial early stages of the case investigation.”
