Dear Editor,

I am writing in regards to the article concerning the unsafe environment at Hollister Hills. My husband is an avid rider and has made the decision recently not to return to the park.

He stated that the park has become overcrowded with people who are unskilled and disrespectful.

He is not surprised by the recent deaths, stating that the lack of respect that riders have causes a lot of problems. There are people riding too fast, cutting other riders off, not giving children the room they need to maneuver, riding on tracks that are above their skill level and not riding at the speed limit on the main roads and through campsites.

It has become a major problem and is a major cause for concern. We also do not allow our children up there.

I know that the park is running on limited resources, and they are trying the best they can to keep a safe environment, but a small staff does not help.

Maybe if they could make arrangements for volunteers to help oversee riders. I know my husband would volunteer. I’m sure there are a lot of other parents out there that would also.

The bottom line is that something needs to be done before another person dies.
