San Benito girls basketball team gets seed, home game to open
NorCal Championships
After toppling top-seeded Carlmont in the Central Coast Section Division I championship on Friday, the San Benito girls basketball team was awarded the 4-seed for this week’s NorCal Championships.

The Lady ‘Balers will host Sacramento’s McClatchy High School (22-10) of the Sac-Joaquin Section Tuesday. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. at Mattson Gym in Hollister.

Only four of the 10 teams in the NorCal Championships were seeded, giving San Benito the last of the four seeds for the state tournament. The No. 1 seed went to Berkeley (27-3).

Although not seeded, Carlmont finished with the lowest host priority, and they will play on the road throughout the tournament. The Scots will open with Lowell (26-4) of San Francisco at Kezar Pavilion Monday.

A win for San Benito on Tuesday would push them to Thursday’s regional semifinals.
