Boy Scouts from Pack 428 in San Juan Bautista are collecting new, unwrapped toys in the Mission City for local children who otherwise might not receive a visit from Santa Claus this Christmas.

Toys will be collected through Dec. 16, then wrapped by the Boy Scouts and delivered to the mission for distribution to needy families.

“The boys are hoping to meet the needs of as many children as they can. It’s something they want to do for kids like them who may not be otherwise expecting a happy holiday,” said Pack 428 Scout Master Paul Hill.

Pack 428 has placed 55-gallon drums in three locations to make it easier for people to drop off toys:

-Mission San Juan Bautista, 408 Second St.;

-Glad Tidings Church, 499 Third St., and

-San Benito Bank, 301 Third St.
