Letter: Former mayoral candidate ponders issues

I want to bring a lot of different things to the people’s attention. I feel the people of the community should be aware and know what goes on in their city. I myself would like to know what does the police department and county sheriff’s department do with the entire surplus of property they obtain in their possession.  Eventually no one claims them, and then they stay in the city or county’s possession. What happens to them then? It is in their inventory, the property room. I buy from property room all the time, and this certainly does work. Where is all the money at that they make of this unclaimed property? They cannot lie about that.
Another thing, they should really regulate the secret airport on Frazier Lake, where a volunteer was killed. I just don’t understand how he was hit in daylight, with a yellow light on the lawn mower, I have been on a plane before and you can see everything. Just like the county bus, how could it hit the kid on his bicycle?
A pipe broke again. We spent $14,000, a waste of taxpayers’ money for some company to check scientific movement. At the Aug. 3 meeting they argued when they did the contract With San Benito County chambers of Commerce for tourism for the city, didn’t they do that before with the bed and breakfast hotel in 2012 or 2014? What happen to that money, $50,000? You have to pay attention to everything. Now we’re paying again. They always make excuses; there is no base or platform from our city leaders. I oppose raising taxes, but they are going to try to do it. You the people pay for this.
The high school’s $13.8 million dollars for an aquatic center, they want people to believe that. But I know about buildings and engineering and blueprints and that sounds absurd. I can put in two aquatic centers with that kind of money. They spend more money on planning then before the project is even built. If anything, they waste money. It is time for them to stop this mess.
There is nothing for the families to do around here. They want to do movies in the park night but that is not good enough. We need Scandia, Walmart, a skating rink, bowling alley, a drive-in would be nice, DD’s Discount store would be great, or Ross Dress for Less. Things the community can afford, and benefit from. Whatever happened to the new hotel? I haven’t seen anything being built yet. This is what you voted for. We need order. If you want to believe this, I do not. I believe in God and Jesus Christ above.
