Dear Editor,
I would like to start this letter,

never say never.

I grew up in a small crowded island with a population of 28,000
people. The normal population was 15,000. Growing up in this
environment can make you or destroy you. Fifty percent of the
people were walking barefoot, including me. Growing up on the ranch
barefoot was more convenient. In those days not many could afford
it. Even in those days! I believe growing up in this environment
made me a better person. I was always concerned about the poor, the
old, the young, the ones in need. I’ m always thinking of a better
way. After 31 years on the island, with Mary, my wife and two
wonderful kids, we immigrated, looking for a better life. We ended
up living where we live today. We have been here for 49 years,
continuing with the same attitude, always trying to make this world
a better place, not only for us but to those we see in need. Mary
and I have been married for 55 years. Good disposition has made our
family very close. We all love her and have great respect.
Thanks to many for 80 great years

Dear Editor,

I would like to start this letter, “never say never.” I grew up in a small crowded island with a population of 28,000 people. The normal population was 15,000. Growing up in this environment can make you or destroy you. Fifty percent of the people were walking barefoot, including me. Growing up on the ranch barefoot was more convenient. In those days not many could afford it. Even in those days! I believe growing up in this environment made me a better person. I was always concerned about the poor, the old, the young, the ones in need. I’ m always thinking of a better way. After 31 years on the island, with Mary, my wife and two wonderful kids, we immigrated, looking for a better life. We ended up living where we live today. We have been here for 49 years, continuing with the same attitude, always trying to make this world a better place, not only for us but to those we see in need. Mary and I have been married for 55 years. Good disposition has made our family very close. We all love her and have great respect. She’s the kind that never says no. She is always ready to help someone in need. I am in favor of that, but with a different disposition. I like to say or do it the way it is. I was raised to be honest. We were raised with morals, and raised our children with these same morals. Our children didn’t go through the hard times that we went through when we were growing up. To me, going through hard times makes a person see things in different ways. Our kids have been raised in a different culture. They learn what they see. Things change, you have to follow. We don’t expect them to grow up with the life that we had. That is why we immigrated. Hope they learn some good from us and pass it on to their kids. Here I am when I read or heard that somebody passed away that is 80 years of age. I used to say that I would never get to be 80. As I start “never say never,” I was born 5/20/1928. Thanks to God for a life of hard work with the good and sometimes the things we don’t like. Life is like the world with ups and downs, hills and flats, with faith in God, even in bare feet you can make it. Thanks to God for 80 years and a good mind. This is me! Not my opinion! I would like to thank all of my family for all of the help through the years. I couldn’t have done it alone.
