Seek out the underlying meaning in stories Allegories seem to be
our favorite stories because we seem to love learning what they

”
The Wizard of Oz,

performed recently by San Benito Stage Company and an American
fairy tale, was an allegory. Allegories are stories with underlying
meanings. The Straw man represented farmers, the Tin Man, factory
workers, and the Lion, bankers. The Wicked Witch represented the
railroads. At that time the railroads were gouging everyone and the
three going to Oz with Dorothy were trying to create a fair
society.
I believe we have a current allegory playing here at Premiere
Cinemas. It is not too late to see the movie,

Do put on your thinking cap and discern the underlying meanings.
Ask yourself some questions. Why is the military on another planet?
What is the significance of the planet’s name, Pandora? Why does
the industry want the mineral,

? Why does the base commander refer to the Pandorans as

? Are there other solutions to the problem?

A holiday well spent and reflections on Haiti
Now that the holidays are over, I hope everyone enjoyed them as much as we did. For Christmas we decided to take a flight to Vinita, Oklahoma to enjoy the Holidays with our son Manuel Lima, wife Suzanne, grandson Adam and his fiancee Kristy. We were also supposed to meet up with our granddaughter Amanda but because of the bad weather her flight was canceled.
Once there we had the surprise of our lives. Christmas eve night we were hit with eight inches of snowfall. When we looked out in the morning the sight was gorgeous, everything we could see was white. Airports closed but luckily when we were ready to leave the planes started moving in and out. It was kind of hard to say goodbye after such a good time they gave us. We enjoyed seeing them get stuck in the snow. It seems like they had a blast. Effects of the climate, seems like they were enjoying the environment. On the way home we had a beautiful trip. I always sit by the window to observe the outside scenery. We got home in time to celebrate the New Years with the ones left behind. Thanks to God for a good year.
The thing that is most bothering me is the suffering as the result of the earthquake in Haiti. So many have died and are suffering. We were in a similar situation. We are in this country because of the many earthquakes we put up with in the Azores. It is not a good feeling. Anyone who has experienced a bad earthquake has an idea what these people are going through in this situation.
I hope we have a better 2010! But we are still going to be facing the war and many challenges. The world is getting very crowded with over six billion people, each one with their own way of thinking. It will be complicated to keep keep things under control. I’ve lived a long life the future is not so important. There are things that if I could take back I would. I’m wondering about the future of the young people. The thing I worry about the most is getting to heaven and facing God. To get to heaven you have to be a saint and in these days who of us is?
God bless all the world and its people, we all need his blessing.
