Parents Must Guide Children With Examples of Love
Parents Must Guide Children With Examples of Love

Editor,

The recent front page article “Mother Indicted for Murder” (Dec. 2) raises questions.

What in this young mother’s background influenced her? What about her family? How was she treated as a child or as a young adult?

It is so important that parents guide their little ones and make them know that they are loved and wanted.

What about current social trends and their consequences? What part did irresponsible trend-setters play in this act?

What can you and I do to help? How can we turn a wayward directions to a wholesome one?

We remember the slightest loving gestures our parents showed each other. We remember a kind look, the smoothing of a blanket over a spouse’s knee, a loving touch.

To children even a tiny display of their parents’ affection toward each other is meaningful. It sinks deep into their psyche.

Young parents, stay with your family this weekend. Know how important you are to your children. Your actions, facial expressions even your tone of voice is so meaningful. Turn the TV off and talk to your children. Listen to them. Ask them about their little cares and concerns, how their day is going.

Show love to your spouse so the children can see your affection. This will become part of their character. Don’t wait. Children grow up before you know it. Start today, young parents, you’ll be glad you did.

Hunters Not Behind Lawsuit Over Poisoning of Condors

Editor,

Your front page article on lead poisoning of condors (“State Sued Over Lead Poisoning of Condors,” Dec. 1) starts with the statement, “A coalition of environmentalists, hunters and American Indians sued state wildlife regulators.”

This is a blatant lie. As an NRA life member, I can tell you that there is no hunter group that is part of this effort.

And Physicians for Responsible Medicine is a gun control group. They want to make bullets so expensive that no one will be able to afford them.

If you search their Web site, you will find not a single reference to condors. They have toned down the anti-gun rhetoric on their site, but a sample can still be found in their review of the book “Outgunned.”
