Help Mexico Control Government

Editor,

Bruce Kiefert’s recent letter says that we need a legal wall of strict entry rules and deportation to control illegal Mexican immigration.

I disagree.

Walls don’t work. China’s Great Wall, the walled towns of the Middle Ages, France’s Maginot Line, and the Berlin Wall are all failed monuments to Bruce’s way of thinking.

Here are some ideas to fix the illegal immigration problem.

Make Mexico’s government responsible to its people.

When one family or political party rules for may years, those in power think only of collecting their own treasure. They do not care about helping those upon whose backs they have climbed. We know how to turn the political rascals out when they get greedy. Let’ s show the Mexican people how to do it.

Make Mexico’s police responsible to its people.

A friend of mine went with other women to build a school in a Mexican town. During the day, Mexican men called the women obscene names. At night, gunshots and dynamite explosions happened. Where was the Mexican police? Why weren’t they doing their job of maintaining law and order? Let’s use American know-how to help the Mexican people make their police responsible.

Stop the Mexican Catholic Church from exploiting its parishioners.

The Mexican Catholic Church has a vast army of nuns, priests, reverends, archbishops and bishops. The people must pay to feed, cloth, house, and transport these prelates. This a financial burden.

The Catholic Church has family planning policies that cause the Mexican people to have large families. Large families cause poverty. Let’s help the Mexican people control the exploitative policies of the Mexican Catholic Church.

Make Mexico more prosperous.

Mexico needs factories and businesses so their people will stay there and not migrate. People in the United States do not want to migrate to Mexico. Why not? Well, we have factories and businesses that employ people and make them prosperous. Let’s export America’s factory and business know-how to Mexico.

Canada has a weak border with the United States. You can get from Canada to the United States just by walking through the woods. Years ago, my maternal grandmother did just that. Why doesn’t the United States have an immigration problem with Canada? The answer is simple – Canada is prosperous and a nice place to live for ordinary people.

So, if we help Mexico control its government, police, and religion, and build factories there, Mexico will become prosperous and a nice place to live for ordinary people.

And we will solve the United States’ illegal immigration problem.
