Rally Committee Working Hard for a Better Biker Event
Rally Committee Working Hard for a Better Biker Event

Editor,

There was a letter in your Oct. 28 edition from one of the rally vendors that lost his deposit to HIRC (Hollister Independence Rally Committee) last year. He is obviously still very angry about it.

Many of the vendors that come every year frequent Johnny’s. Believe me, we missed you folks and could not have been sorrier about the way things went. I think Tim Melody should have done his homework before writing his scathing letter attacking me and the Hollister Motorcycle Rally Committee without knowing who we are or what we have been doing. The dedicated people on our committee have been meeting every Tuesday, with the exception of one week, since early August. Some of the committee members went to one of our prospective promoters events at the Cow Palace this month. We talked to at least 20 vendors. Many came to Hollister every year until last year. Some of them also did not get their money back. Everyone had wonderful things to say about the promoter. They could not say enough about the professional and fair treatment of vendors. Neither the promoter nor this committee can give vendors back the money that they lost.

We do, however, have every intention of doing what we can to give them first shot at the location for their booths. We haven’t been given any information from HIRC regarding the 2005 rally, which make it impossible to know who lost money. We all have the same goal. We want a profitable and fun rally. Give us a break, Tim. We’re working on it.
