Sarsfield’s campaign to stay in office would start. As has born
true throughout history, a man cannot change his stripes. So it
would be easy to say he will do just what he did before.

I have been watching and waiting for some time to see how Mr. Sarsfield’s campaign to stay in office would start. As has born true throughout history, a man cannot change his stripes. So it would be easy to say he will do just what he did before.

This time however, Mr. Sarsfield has a record. Not a criminal record but a record of misconduct. Not to get too busy let’s, just for today, stick with one issue. Sarsfield has this out-of-town guy start hanging around the courthouse. Before you know it, he is wearing a badge and serving papers to those involved with the District 5 election grand jury.

Next, Sarfield asks the supervisors to hire him as an agent, but instead he gives the guy only administrative assistant type status. Sarsfield allows this guy to go around town as the officer safety investigator, flashing his badge to just about all of God’s creation. When confronted by the sheriff and basically the entire law enforcement community, Sarsfield says he neither saw nor heard of this badge. Here is a clue, send out a real cop and demand that the guy give the badge back and explain where he got it from. No, that’s too easy, and Sarsfield probably knows the answers that will come back. So I suppose this badly needed and expedited position that was created was not so needed. What is his answer now, “Well you know that pitch for that badly needed position, let’s just forget about it?”

The position, however, raises more interesting and serious questions. I thought that county positions were to go through a hiring process? Somewhere during the hiring process, isn’t a job like that to be offered to current county employees? How about a finger print check? I believe even the parking ticket lady had to give up finger prints. These are not lofty ideas reserved for the intellectuals, these are basic rights and policies that have been around since even before Sarsfield was working in Salinas. Recall Sarsfield.
