San Juan Bautista is shown in this overhead shot.

San Juan Bautista has a League of United Latin American Citizens chapter.
The chapter launched about a month ago, according to organizers who spoke at the San Juan Bautista City Council meeting Tuesday. San Juan’s Ruben Lopez and Aromas’ Mary Hsia-Coron made the announcement during the public comment period of Tuesday’s meeting.
San Juan now has a chapter separate from the long-running, existing San Benito County chapter.
“We felt there was a need in San Juan, Aromas, to meet the needs of our kids,” said organizer Ruben Lopez, who mentioned the organization is celebrating its 90th birthday. “We’re going to be dealing with kids, with schools, with parents.”
