The local Lucky manager was honored by the company as the outstanding manager of the year in the chain, according to a press release from the company.

Greg Gilliam was honored with the 2015 Nicholas J. Tocco Outstanding Manager of the Year Award this weekend at the company’s annual management appreciation gala. Greg manages our Lucky store in Hollister, California.
“Over the past three years, Greg has consistently improved the store’s sales, and at the same time maintained his #1 ranking in customer service scores,” said Mike Haaf, General Manager of Lucky. “I’m so proud of Greg. He works very hard to run a great store—for his customers and for his team,”
Greg began working for Lucky Supermarkets as a bagger at the age of 16 in one of our San Jose stores and moved to other locations in that area as a checker, night crew supervisor and assistant store manager. He was promoted to store manager in 2004, and oversaw the Sand City and Santa Clara stores before heading up the Hollister store in 2010. He excels at taking on new challenges and mentoring store associates to greatness.
“Greg’s leadership exemplifies what being a store manager means for the company,” confirmed Steve Junqueiro, Co-President and Chief Operating Officer of Save Mart, which owns Lucky Supermarkets.
“I’m honored to be selected for this award. I credit the community and my in-store associates for making our store great. I’m also very fortunate to have had excellent guidance throughout my career here,” said Greg.
John Burgess from our Save Mart store on Pyramid Lakes Hwy. in Sparks, Nevada and Joe Silveira from our Lucky store on Mission Blvd. in Fremont – were named first and second runners-up respectively.

The Outstanding Manager of the Year award was created in honor of the late Nicholas J. Tocco, co-founder of Save Mart Supermarkets. Nominees for the award must meet the company’s standards for store performance, customer service and community involvement. The winner receives an etched blown glass vase, travel certificate and cash. Runners up receive a cash award, and all nominees receive a framed certificate.
