Former San Juan Bautista City Manager Jan McClintock has taken on the same position in Colusa.

“It’s very, very nice. We have a very wonderful staff,” McClintock said. “It’s a little bigger than San Juan.”

Colusa is located north-northwest of Sacramento on the Sacramento River and has a population of about 5,900 people.

McClintock said the city called her in September 2008 asking her to apply for the vacant interim city manager position, which she was offered later. On Jan. 1, the city took off the interim title.

Her family moved to the Colusa area in February but she still is in the San Juan Bautista area on weekends to tend to her shop, TOPS A Rock Shop.

McClintock served as city manager of San Juan Bautista from February 2006 to May 2008, when she was fired. At the time of her firing, then-Mayor George Dias did not give a reason why she was fired, citing his reluctance to divulge “personnel issues.”

During her time as city manager, the Mission City’s economy had fallen flat due to declining tourism and tax revenues. In 2008, city officials under McClintock’s guidance failed to get a sales tax increase approved by voters and lost a $3.5 million federal grant that had been pegged to fund the town’s much-needed water system.
