The color guard waits to do its duty during a past Memorial Day service at Calvary Cemetery in Hollister.
Memorial Day ceremonies in San Benito County are set for today.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9242 and American Legion Post 69 will host the annual ceremony open to the public at noon Memorial Day at the Veterans Memorial Building, 649 San Benito St.
It will be followed by a banner presentation and lunch, which is $10. The menu includes tri-tip sandwich, beans, chips and a drink.
Before the downtown ceremony, local veterans groups in the morning will visit San Juan Bautista and Hollister cemeteries to lay wreaths on grave sites of deceased veterans. Those ceremonies generally start at 9 a.m. at the San Juan cemetery and move to Hollister cemeteries for ceremonies at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.
