San Francisco’s AT&T Park will host the semis and finals of the 2013 World Baseball Classic, Major League Baseball announced Wednesday.
It will be the first time that the World Baseball Classic will come to Northern California and San Francisco. The semis and finals were hosted by Dodger Stadium in 2009 and Petco Park in San Diego in 2006.
Games from the 2013 tournament will also be hosted at Marlins Park in Miami and in Arizona at Chase Field and Scottsdale’s Talking Stick.
In a statement, Giants’ President and CEO Larry Baer called the ballpark “the perfect venue to showcase the best baseball players in the world as they represent their countries and compete in this one-of-a-kind international tournament.”
The first two World Baseball Classics were won by Japan. Ticket information has not been released.
