The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the community’s help in finding a missing Morgan Hill teen, Sierra Lamar.

Lamar, 15, has not been seen since she left for school, Ann Sobrato High School, Friday morning at 6 a.m. Authorities are unsure if she ran away or was abducted.

Sgt. Jose Cardoza of the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department said on Saturday at 3 p.m. that the family reported her missing Friday at 5 p.m. She never showed up to school.

Her cell phone is also not at home, Cardoza said. All calls go to her voicemail, and police recently said her cell phone can no longer be tracked because the battery is dead.

Lamar is described as 5 feet, 2 inches tall with a thin build and dark hair. She was last seen with a black and pink “Juicy” brand purse.

The case is unique because there is no prior history of Lamar running away, nor are there any family issue at home, said Cardoza. Deputies are searching between the area of her home in unincorporated Morgan Hill near the intersection of Palm and Dougherty avenues and Sobrato High School.

If you have seen Lamar or have any information for the police, call the Sheriff’s Office at 408-299-2311 or 408-808-4500, or the anonymous tip line at 408-808-4431.

They are asking for anyone with information to contact the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office at (408) 299-2311.
