As political campaigns throughout the nation race down the final stretch before the Nov. 3 election, a candidate for a San Benito County Supervisor’s seat has accused his rival of violations of the state’s Fair Political Practices Commission guidelines.

Leonard JT Espinoza is no stranger to the public education system after having spent countless hours as a paraeducator, working with students and their families.

Liz Martinez will do whatever it takes to get through any situation, even if it means learning a whole new language and becoming a translator for her parents.

The developer of the 2,777-acre Strada Verde Specific Plan commercial development proposal has earmarked nearly $900,000 to promote a “Yes” vote on the Nov. 3 ballot measure that would allow the project to move forward.

Election officials have already mailed out ballots to registered voters in San Benito County, and installed drop boxes for residents to submit their ballots at their convenience before Nov. 3.

Perez, who has an extensive background in building maintenance, thinks he has the insight to help with infrastructure repairs and other issues within Hollister if elected as City Councilmember for District 1.

“I’m not looking to do this to become a politician,” Fernandez said. “If I win, that’ll be great. I will do the best that I can for the city and for its citizens.”

Local ballots include two county supervisors’ seats, Hollister Mayor and two City Council seats, two seats on the San Juan Bautista City Council, Monterey County Board of Education Trustee Area 5, San Benito County Board of Education District 1, Cabrillo Community College Trustee Area 7, South Monterey County Joint Union High School District and Hollister School District Trustee Areas 2 and 4.

In vying for the Hollister School District Board of Trustees Area 4 seat, Lisa Marks said she has no agenda other than wanting to set up children for future success. Over the years, Marks has served as a tutor for struggling students and has volunteered inside the classroom and in the community.

Rob Bernosky comes from a family of teachers. The incumbent running for the Hollister School District Board of Trustees Area 4 seat, Bernosky has two daughters who are teachers, is married to a teacher and has a sister- and brother-in-law who are teachers.
