Pig gets ride in police car

A small gray and white potbelly pig got some ride Wednesday morning when she took a spin in the back of a police car.

“This morning about 9 o’clock our patrol officer got a call of a potbelly pig at Versailles and Sunnyslope and they responded over because obviously animal patrol is part of Hollister PD,” explained Hollister Police Chief David Westrick.

Concerned the piggy might become bacon and preferring for the little critter to find its way home, the officer took it to the Hollister Animal Shelter. Westrick posted about the pig online, he said. This included several posts on Twitter with the final one telling followers the pig was safely home.

Luckily, the pig’s owners saw a post on the Animal Shelter’s Facebook page and claimed their pet, who had been busy hamming it up. The pig is home, reported the police chief.
