Leaf: A girl’s BFF
Stretched legs built for running. Spock ears for good hearing. One wet noise to detect tasty food. Smooth dark chocolate fur worth getting all over your shirt. Light brown puppy dog eyes to win the love of even the coldest person. Seven pounds of pure fun. That's a girl's best friend right there!
Lily Biafore: Healing through love
Lily Biafore is the most amazing dog anyone could ask for, and she is all mine! Lily came into my life when I needed a companion the most. When I saw her as a puppy in the pet store, I knew right away that we needed each other. Being young and broke, I asked my wonderful uncle if he would pay for her, and I could pay him back in monthly installments. When I made the final payment to my uncle, it was the best feeling in the world because she was all mine, and I had paid for her all by myself.
Joey, Buddy and LadyGirl: Angels sent from Heaven
My dog Joey, named after Joe Montana of course, is my constant companion and fellow 49er fan. He always listens to me if I have complaints about how the team is doing and celebrates with me when they are doing well. He has his very own 49er jersey and wears it proudly on game days. Joey was found wandering alone in rural Hollister about a year and a half ago. Even though we don’t know his true heritage, he is most likely a Maltese mix.
Bailey: Grin and ‘bear’ it
After the death of my dog Pumpkin last year, I couldn’t imagine another dog stealing my heart the way she did. But three months later, along came Bailey, whose photo on a rescue website made me catch my breath. I knew I was meant to be hers.
Lexi and Leo: Double trouble
Lexi (left) and Leo are brother and sister, 4.5-year-old mini-dachshunds.
Coach: The sports fan
This little ball of cuteness is Coach. He’s a 3-year-old poodle-mix who rescued me two years ago. When I saw him at the shelter in Yuma, Ariz. I knew I was destined to give him his forever home. I’ve never known the absolute love and joy of any dog prior or any dog since – he really is my soul pup. While he’s a ball of energy who loves running in the park and chasing squirrels, he’s also perfectly happy cuddling and watching TV. In case you’re wondering: He’s not named after Coach, the luxury leather goods brand, but Coach Ditka from the 1985 Super Bowl champion Chicago Bears.
