Gavilan College student wins PG&E scholarship

A Gavilan College MESA student earned the MESA Undergraduate Scholarship from the Pacific Gas and Electric Company. Alicia Ornelas-Stevens was one of 12 MESA community college students to win a $1,000 award. Alicia will be transferring to UC Davis in the fall 2013 semester. She is majoring in computer science.

Bill would allow transgender students in opposite sex restrooms

The California Assembly on Thursday passed a bill that would ensure students access to programs and facilities – including restrooms – based on their gender identity and not their biological sex.
