Governor appoints local to 33rd Ag District board

Governor Jerry Brown has appointed Jennifer Coile, 58, of Hollister, to the 33rd District Agricultural Association, the San Benito County Fair Board. The positiondoes not require Senate confirmation and offers no compensation. Coile has been a technical assistance provider at Training and Development Associates Inc. since 2011 and a project manager and interim housing coordinator at the City of Marina Economic Development Division since 2006.

Sheriff’s deputies seek suspect in attempted kidnapping

San Benito County Sheriff’s deputies are in search of a man who alleged approached the boyfriend of an ex-girlfriend and hit the man with a metal pipe. Officers are looking for Cameron Bush in relation to the case.

Adopt Sophia

Sophia is an 8-year-old cat who is very mellow and loves to be pet. She would be an ideal companion cat for an older person. She has been at the San Martin Animal Shelter since August. If you are interested in adopting this or any other animal at the shelter, please call 408-686-3900.

Anderson retires from Sunnyslope County Water board

Dawn Anderson, who served on the Sunnyslope County Water District for 22 years, will step down at the end of her term in December. She attended her last meeting on Nov. 8, when two new board members were announced.

New Parks director sworn in

Maj. General Anthony Jackson was sworn in Nov. 16 by Gov. Jerry Brown as the 19th Director of California State Parks, according to a press release recently sent out by the department.

Adopt Munchkin

Munchkin is a loving little girl with a great disposition.  When she first came to the FOSMAS Adoption Center at Petco Gilroy a few months ago she was a little shy, but she came out of her shell after a few weeks.    Now she’ll come and sit in your lap and purr sweetly for you while you pet her.  Like any kitten or young cat she values her play time and would be very happy if you would play string with her or use the laser pointer to give her something to chase.
