County GOP reports vandalism, theft of Romney signs

San Benito County’s Republican Party last weekend posted a handful of large signs supporting presidential candidate Mitt Romney. The local party’s chairman on Wednesday reported that one of those signs was vandalized – so it now reads “Romney Lies” – and another was stolen.

Suspect accused of fleeing from police for second time this year

On October 1, Hollister police arrested Michael Smith, 38, on the 500 block of Tres Pinos Road after they alleged he ran from a traffic stop. He was arrested on recommended charges of suspected possession of methamphetamine, resisting arrest and parole violation, according to the Hollister Police Department.

Hollister man arrested in Modesto shooting death of off-duty cop

Detectives on Friday morning arrested a Hollister man police say pulled a gun during a fight outside a north Modesto bar in late July, opened fire and inadvertently shot to death his co-worker, an off-duty U.S. Department of Defense police officer.
