Wineries readying for Passport Weekend on Saturday, Sunday

South County wineries are hosting the second Passport Weekend of the year Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Council gives bid preference to Hollister vendors, omits county

After discussions over possibly moving the Hollister Airshow to a weekend near July 4, council members Monday decided in a 4-1 vote to keep the event running over Memorial Day weekend.

The 12-time felon and Gilroy man who killed his wife’s puppy by throwing it against a wall more than a year ago was sentenced Friday morning to six years in state prison, a much shorter sentence than the 25 years to life he was facing.
