Suspect accused of fleeing from police for second time this year
On October 1, Hollister police arrested Michael Smith, 38, on the 500 block of Tres Pinos Road after they alleged he ran from a traffic stop. He was arrested on recommended charges of suspected possession of methamphetamine, resisting arrest and parole violation, according to the Hollister Police Department.

Anderson closed for boating Saturday due to low water level
Due to the low water level in Anderson and Coyote reservoirs, boating will be suspended at both reservoirs on Oct. 6. To mitigate the reservoirs’ early closure, the Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation Department will increase boating days at Calero, and keep Stevens Creek and Lexington reservoirs open on weekends and holidays in order to provide options for recreational boaters and anglers. Barn owl returning to the wild
The Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center will be releasing a Barn Owl at the Morgan Hill Outdoor Sports Center on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 6:30 PM.  The barn owl was the sole survivor of 3 downy nestlings that had fallen from their tree nest in Morgan Hill in June.  WERC’s educational (non-releasable) barn owl, Barnadette, will be making a personal appearance at the event. Sales tax supporters, opponents square off at forum
Both sides of the Measure E sales tax argument pointed to its potential impact on economic development. Proponents contended that with fewer resources, it would drive away new businesses. The most vocal opponent argued that a lower sales tax would benefit small businesses, and that the city should get out of the economic development business altogether.
