‘Raise the Roof’ fundraiser canceled

The San Benito County Historical Society members decided to cancel the second Annual "Raise the Roof" fundraiser that was set for Aug. 15 due to low ticket sales. The event was intended to raise money to rebuild the Dunneville Dance Hall at the County's Historical Park. It will likely be rescheduled for next Spring.

County board reduces public hours

The San Benito County Board of Supervisors approved additional staff reductions Tuesday that will amount to a savings of $194,840 for the 2012-13 fiscal year while also approving department schedules that will allow some offices to be closed to the public for a portion of the work week.

Baler Summer Nights: The Baler Backers Athletic Organization is holding its annual dinner/dance and auction fundraiser in support of San Benito High School’s Haybaler Athletic Program, Aug. 18, at the San Benito County Fairgrounds/Bolado Park, from 6 p.m. to midnight, with the dinner served between 7 and 8 p.m. Entertainment is being provided by local band favorite Soul Kiss. Tickets for the 21+ event are $50 each and table reservations of eight are also being accepted. There will be a Live & Silent Auction to raise funds for Baler Athletics, which has seen a severe reduction in its funding due to state budget cuts which have affected California’s school system. Itchy Dogs – Is Food the Problem?
