After chase, police find stolen property in suspect’s vehicle

While investigating a vandalism case at Safeway on Thursday, police ended up pursuing an unrelated suspect who had been holding stolen property, according to the Hollister Police Department.

Two arrested on drug charges

Hollister Police Officers arrested a man during a traffic stop for possession of heroin for sales and possession of an illegal weapon. A search of the suspect’s home resulted in an arrest of another suspect on drug charges Thursday.

Pinnacles climbing areas reopen

Pinnacles National Monument staff announced earlier this week that the areas in the park that had been closed to rock climbing and off-trail hiking to protect nesting falcons and eagles have now been reopened. A total of eight prairie falcon nests successfully produced nestlings and fledged a total of 29 young, representing an average year for Pinnacles prairie falcon productivity. Other nesting raptor species at Pinnacles in 2012 included red-shouldered, red-tailed, sharp-shinned, and Cooper's hawks, golden eagles, white-tailed kites, three owl species, and one Peregrine falcon nest at Hawkins Peak.

‘Big River’ opens Friday at Granada

Even those in theater circles might not be as familiar with the San Benito Stage Company's selection for a summer musical, opening tonight at the Granada Theatre. But show producer Anne Hall said the show has some great musical numbers and a storyline that will draw viewers in. The show “Big River – The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” follows Tom Sawyer's pal as he heads down the Mississippi River.
