Though the second installment of San Benito County property taxes was due April 10 – a week previous to the Board of Supervisors’ meeting this past Tuesday – Supervisor Jaime De La Cruz brought forward an agenda item to discuss the tax collector office hours of operation during tax season.

DA: Felony grand theft charges for MACSA leaders
The former leaders of the Mexican American Community Services Agency are being charged with felony grand theft after a three-year investigation into the San Jose-based organization known as MACSA whose former Gilroy charter school leaders are suspected for misappropriating and embezzling school funds, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office which made the annoucement Thursday morning.

Animal artwork raises funds, creates awareness
They’re not paintings of animals, but paintings by animals. Koko the gorilla, Elepha the elephant, Jello the penguin and Koopa the turtle are just a few of the animal kingdom’s Picassos, Monets and Pollocks. These are animals who actually paint by beak, mouth, paw, flipper or trunk. Some can actually hold a paint brush and others create art hands-on in the same way that children fingerpaint.
DA silent on possible charges against MACSA
The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office will issue a Public Integrity Unit Decision Thursday regarding the Mexican American Community Services Agency, a San Jose-based organization known as MACSA whose former Gilroy charter school leaders are being investigated for misappropriation and embezzlement of school funds.
