Hollister police and many other regional agencies conducted a gang sweep Friday and arrested seven people, according to an announcement from police.

Still hampered by a dearth of leads, law enforcement authorities began to swarm the areas surrounding the home of missing 15-year-old Sierra LaMar Saturday morning. 

Police Chief Jeff Miller is set to retire April 20, while the city manager plans to rotate the two captains in the position before opening it to applicants.

The California Highway Patrol has submitted its report to the district attorney in the January roadway death of Ryan McFall and has recommended charges of driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter against Hollister's Breanna Stewart, according to a CHP spokesman.

The motorist suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol when he struck a man who died as a result of the accident last fall was in court Tuesday, but his hearing was postponed. 

The San Jose driver whose car crashed into the Cadillac sedan that was carrying Andrel Gaines and four other friends Nov. 6 is being charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence with great bodily injury, according to California Highway Patrol spokesman Tony Tam of the San Mateo County division.  

Assemblymember Luis A. Alejo announced the 2012 Woman of the Year for the 28th Assembly District. 

At a press conference today at 10 a.m., the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that missing 15-year-old Sierra LaMar’s Juicy brand purse was found.
