Despite a tremendous appearance of farmers and members of the public in opposition to new rules regarding water runoff, the Central Coast Regional Water Quality Board voted unanimously to pass the proposal that will require farmers to closely monitor their water runoff.

Police say they have recovered and impounded the car of 27-year-old Abel Gutierrez, an Iraq war veteran who shot and killed his 11-year-old sister, Lucero Luna-Gutierrez, in the head before taking his own life Wednesday.

West-side school will be second Hollister campus with clothing mandate

The former San Jose police officer from Gilroy charged with illegal sexual contact with two teen boys pleaded “no contest” to two counts Thursday afternoon.

A 16-year-old girl reported to Hollister police that a man attempted to kidnap her with a knife Tuesday night before she elbowed him and escaped, according to a statement from police.

Parole was denied this week for a former police officer serving a life sentence for killing a man outside a Watsonville bar in 1987.

Local Girl Scouts from around the northern part of Girl Scouts of the California Central Coast, including troops from San Benito County, gathered at Bolado Park Saturday to celebrate 100 years of Scout history. The Girl Scouts of the USA marked 100 years on March 12, with troops around the nation planning celebrations preceding it.
