Members of the board of directors are still awaiting a resolution to “one little glitch” of a revised, proposed lease on Jan. 11 from the course’s landlord, the 33rd District Agriculture Association, board director President Richard Anderson confirmed.

“We are still waiting for (a) packet of information,” he said.

Bolado Park Fair Manager Kelley Ferreira said he had heard nothing new.

The small “glitch” in the proposal is the last step before the revised lease proposal is approved. The proposal from the agricultural district calls for the following: a reduction in rent from $2,083 to $1,000 per month, payment of the course’s water bill dating back to August, select a representative for the agricultural district’s board meetings, and by June have a business plan and projected budget for the following year.

Bolado Park Golf Course is the oldest golf course in San Benito County. It was founded in 1948 after the property was donated for recreational use. For most of the past decade, the park has continued to face deficits and was forced to close for three days in December.

The course was temporarily re-opened as its board and the agricultural district have reviewed its lease. During the course’s struggles last month, the club’s former manager Steve Janisch departed.
