Maria Felicitas Sandoval of Hollister died on Oct. 27, 2002 at San Jose Medical Center. She was 62.

Mrs. Sandoval was born in Amatitan, Jalisco, Mexico and came to San Benito County 32 years ago. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church. She was an employee of San Benito Foods and sold products for Avon.

She is survived by her husband, Encarnacion Sandoval of Hollister, and children Reyna Hernandez of Hollister, Martha Bernal of Santa Cruz, Alma Cooper of Dos Palos, Frank S. Sandoval of Atherton, Selena Ogas of Hollister and Yolanda E. Sandoval of Hollister. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, siblings Pedro and Andres Salazar of Mexico and Socorro Salazar of Los Angeles, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral begins at 12:30 today at the Grunnagle Ament Nelson funeral home with a 1 p.m. mass at Sacred Heart Church. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Donations are preferred to Sacred Heart Church.

Russell E. Patterson

Russell E. Patterson of Hollister died Oct. 22, 2002 at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. He was 72.

Mr. Patterson was born in Lyndhurt, N.J. to Florence and Martin Patterson. After marrying Elizabeth Bette Patterson, he moved his family to California in 1963 to enter the insurance business. He retired 30 years later and began working as a salesman with Overhead Door Co. of Salinas.

He was a member of the Gilroy Elks Lodge #1567, where he served two terms as Exalted Ruler and enjoyed the company of many friends.

Mr. Patterson is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Bette Paterson, children Russell E. Patterson Jr. of Scotts Valley, Kim Gylys of Olympia, Wa., Lynn Orlando of Gilroy, Kyle Patterson of Hollister. He is also survived by five grandchildren, his brother Kenneth Patterson of Effort, Pa., and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held at the Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home. The family asks that donations be made in Russ’s name to the Gilroy Elk’s Crippled Children’s Fund, Gilroy Elks Lodge #1567; Box 488, Gilroy, 95021.

Mary Louise Legge

Mary Louise Legge died on Oct. 26, 2002 at St. Louise Regional Medical Center. She was 79.

Mrs. Legge was born in San Jose and attended Notre Dame High School in San Jose and Heald Business College. She came to San Benito County in 1963.

Mrs. Legge was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Hollister and the Italian Catholic Federation of San Benito County. She was a former member of the Y.L.I.

Mrs. Legge is survived by her husband of 56 years, John Legge of Hollister, daughter Loreen Dow of Gilroy, two grandchildren, one niece and several cousins.

Visitation was held at the Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home on Tuesday and a mass was later held at Sacred Heart Church. Private interment was held on Wednesday at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, Santa Clara.

Pearl N. Jurevich

Pearl N. Jurevich died on Oct. 23, 2002 at her Hollister residence after a long illness. She was 68.

Mrs. Jurevich was born in Sunnyvale and attended Sunnyvale schools. She moved to San Benito County in 1960.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Y.L.I. of Hollister and The Spanish Lodge of Hollister. She was active at Sacred Heart School as a room mother when her children attended. Her interests were her family, and traveling to Europe and Australia and throughout the U.S. with her husband, Bill. She enjoyed collecting antiques and playing bridge and other card games.

Mrs. Jurevich is survived by her husband William “Bill” Jurevich of Hollister, children Bill Joseph and Debbie Jurevich of Hollister, Rob Jurevich of Fresno, Steven John Jurevich of Morgan Hill, Jill Jahn of Sacramento, and David A. Jurevich. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and her sister Kay Hodgson of Hollister and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. Visitation was held on Sunday at the Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home. Donations are preferred to the Hospice of Monterey or Cancer Society c/o the mortuary chapel.

Michael R. Schaefer

Michael R. Schaefer died at his Hollister home on Oct. 17, 2002. He was 49.

Mr. Schaefer had lived in Hollister for three years moving from Las Vegas, where he was employed with Betson Company, a games company. He and his wife, Jacqueline, were married in Hollister on Aug. 24, 2001. He served his country honorably in the US Army from 1971 to 1973.

He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Lewis of Hollister, father William Joe Schaefer of Tustin, his mother-in-law Andree Wilson of Hollister, brother and sister, Carl Schaefer and Nancy Schaefer both of Tustin and three step children, Michelle Cantrell of Merced, Matthew Lewis of Hollister and Laura Lee Ward of Hollister. He is also survived by four grandchildren.

Committal with military rites will be on Nov. 4, 2002 at 1:30 PM at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella. Donations are preferred to The American Cancer Society.

Arrangements and cremation are through Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home and Gavilan Hills Crematory.

Martha M. Netto

Martha M. Netto died Oct. 27, 2002 at Hazel Hawkins Hospital. She was 83.

Mrs. Netto had lived in Hollister for many years and prior to that she had lived in San Jose, Camino and Arroyo Grande. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church.

Mrs. Netto was preceded in death by her husband Clarence “Pete” Netto, who died in 1993. She is survived by her son John Fischer of Hollister, daughter Donna Sanders of Las Vegas, two step-children, Bill Netto of Camino and Etta Miller of Camino, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A service will be held on Nov. 1 at 1 p.m. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. Rev. Richard Clark of Sacred Heart Church will officiate.

Arrangements and cremation are through Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home and Gavilan Hills Crematory. Donations are preferred to the American Heart Association.

Martin R. Arciniega

Martin R. Arciniega died at his Hollister home Oct. 23, 2002. He was 67.

Mr. Arciniega was born in Guerrero, Mexico and had been a resident of Hollister for about 30 years. He was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses and a self employed painter for many years. He and his wife, Maria, were married in 1980 in Hollister.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Arciniega of Hollister, mother Margarita Arciniega of Hollister, children, Martin Arciniega Jr. of San Jose, Jaime Arciniega of Hollister, Joseph Arciniega of Hollister, Iris Arciniega of Hollister, Rocio Arciniega of Hollister, Sandra Hinojos of Hayward, Armando Arciniega of Los Angeles, Fernando Arciniega of Hollister, Arturo Arciniega of Arizona and Regin Arzeta of Hollister, his brothers and sisters, Bartolo Arciniega of Hollister, Francisco Arciniega of Hollister, Oliva Nunez of Hollister, Eliazar Arciniega of Hollister, Elias Arciniega of Gilroy, Joel Arciniega of Hollister, Armando Arciniega of Hollister, Elvia Gonzalez of Hollister, Salvador Arciniega of Los Banos and Josue Arciniega of Los Banos.

He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Memorial services were held Oct. 26 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Arrangements and cremation are through Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home and Gavilan Hills Crematory with private family burial at sea.
