Gavilan giveaways

During halftime of the last Gavilan football home game on Nov. 8, three major prizes will be given away.

The third-place prize is a 3-days/2-nights stay for two at the Monte Carlo Hotel in Las Vegas. Airfare is included. The second-place prize is a brand new 2003 Indian Motorcycle. And the grand prize is a 2003 Dodge Ram Truck. A total of 3000 tickets are being sold. Tickets cost only $25 each and are tax deductible. Proceeds benefit Gavilan College athletics. 2000 tickets must be sold.

Scholar athletes

The Central California Chapter of the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame is accepting applications for its 2004 Scholar-Athletes for outstanding academic, athletic and leadership accomplishments. Nominations are due from all 16 high schools in Monterey and San Benito Counties no later than Dec. 1.
