Editor,

I read with interest the letter to the editor in the Feb. 23 Free Lance submitted by Ken Rash. It’s amusing that he and his family have been attending the Independence Day Rally for over two decades since Hollister has only had the rally for nine years – actually eight as 1997 was a special tribute to the group of bikers who passed through town in 1947.

Perhaps Mr. Rash doesn’t know where he’s been going on the July 4th weekend, if anywhere. You’re correct Mr. Rash, the NIMBY’s (not in my backyard) are the locals (including children and pets with no voice) who don’t enjoy this disruptive, disturbing weekend but have been forced to endure it. They feel overrun, overwhelmed, hijacked and held hostage in their town Mr. Rash, not yours, and justifiably so. It’s time Hollister ended this thing once and for all.

Mr. Rash, since you know so much about rallies and finances may I suggest you coordinate one in Waterford and leave Hollister alone.

Noreen Martin, Hollister
