USA Sports in Gilroy recently capped off its competition season as two gymnasts medaled in the all-around and several others had top six finishes at separate Northern California State Championships.
Allison Mercurio, of Gilroy, continued her rookie season with silver medals in the all-around (36.775) and floor exercise (9.425) at the Level 3 State Championships in Lemoore.
She also earned bronze medals on the vault (9.325) and the balance beam (9.025). Mercurio also placed fourth on uneven bars (9.0).
Also at the Level 3 state meet, Hollister teammate Jada Mendoza’s pair of bronze medals on vault (9.30) and floor exercise (9.25) helped her secure a fourth place in the all-around (35.825).
Gilroy teammate, Isabella Saggau, also a rookie, placed fourth on uneven bars (9.05) and fifth both on balance beam (8.95) and in the all-around (36.05).
Elizabeth Oliveria and Josephine Rawlins, both of Gilroy, rounded out the Level 3 competition with a pair of sixth place finishes on uneven bars (8.60) and floor exercise (9.10), respectively.
At the Level 4 State Championships in Redwood City, Gilroy teammate, Jaden Regallo, finished third in the all-around (36.50).
She also won the uneven bar title (9.25), placed fourth on floor exercise (9.325) and fifth on vault (9.05).
“Allison really competes like a veteran. Her potential is unlimited,” said USA Sports Head Coach Jennifer Yip in a press release. “Jaden, who has a bit more competition experience, was focused and determined. She was a great example for all of her teammates.”
The Level 4 team also had additional highlights include a silver medal performance on floor exercise (9.275) by Ellie Pickford, of Gilroy. Pickford also placed fourth on balance beam (9.05). Gilroy teammates, Kaitlyn Pappas and Emily Rivera also placed fifth on vault (8.95) and sixth on uneven bars (8.875), respectively.
At the Level 5 State Championships in Oroville, Marcela Mantilla, of Gilroy, had the top performance for the team with a fourth place finish on uneven bars (8.325).
Her sister, Louisa Mantilla, earned a fifth place title with a 9.00 on vault and Sloane Pace was sixth on uneven bars (8.10).
“I’m really proud of all our gymnasts,” Yip said in the release. “I’ve seen such improvement over last season.”
