The Chinese fast food chain Panda Express has pulled building permits to renovate the former Blockbuster Video building in the Target shopping center.
“At this point, they submitted for the building permits and got the permit,” said Abraham Prado, an associate planner with the city of Hollister, who said the permit has been finalized.
The applicant still has improvements to make on the building to convert it for the use as a Chinese eatery, and Prado said there is no timeline on when Panda Express will be open.
“We are happy to know the site is being occupied soon,” Prado said.
The building has been vacant since Blockbuster went out of business in July.
The space may be split between more than one tenant as Game Stop also came in for sign permits, but has not yet applied for a building permit. The chain store sells video game equipment.
