Drivers can expect delays at certain hours on Highway 156 next week with paving work scheduled, according to Caltrans. The transportation agency expects delays of 15 to 20 minutes on the nine-mile stretch between the construction work hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
According to a statement from Caltrans on the work:
Caltrans maintenance crews will be grinding and paving a nine-mile section of eastbound and westbound Highway 156 from Alameda Street to the junction of Hwy. 25/Hwy. 156 between Hollister and San Juan Bautista starting Monday, October 5 for five days, Caltrans officials have announced.
One-way reversing traffic control with flaggers will be in effect. Work hours are Monday, Oct. 5 through Friday, Oct. 9 from 9 am to 3 pm. Motorists can expect delays of 15-20 minutes. Motorists can use the alternate route along Hwy. 101 north to Hwy. 25. Roadwork is scheduled to be complete by Friday, Oct. 9.
An electronic message sign will be posted alerting motorists of this work, which is being done by our Hollister maintenance crew. The CHP will also be present to assist with traffic control. It is necessary for the preservation of the road and safety of the travelling public.
Caltrans reminds motorists to move over slow down when driving through highway work zones.
