Husband and wife Cinda Meister and Bradley Jones, co-owners of BookSmart, first opened their doors 23 years ago in downtown Morgan Hill.
Ten years later they moved to Depot Center on Second Street.
“And then we redeveloped and here we are,” Meister said, referring to their current location, 1295 E. Dunne Ave., Suite 120, where they moved in November 2016. With each move, the couple’s goal has remained the same: serving the community.
“When they’re looking for a gift certificate or donation for their club, school or church, we always do whatever we can,” Jones said.
In this day and age of big box stores, BookSmart offers something unique: personal service.
“It’s nice to shop where someone knows your name or knows your face or knows your family; you have a much more personal touch,” Meister said.
Finding that perfect holiday gift is easy at BookSmart, which offers a wonderful variety of books in addition to beautiful scarves, socks, gloves, hats that light up (perfect for the holiday parade), 2019 calendars, art supplies, puppets, coloring books, markers, art supplies and greeting cards.
“We even have a great barbecue spatula to go with your cookbook,” Jones said.
“We’re always looking for something just a little different, a little unique,” Meister said, adding that special orders are no problem. “If we don’t have what you want in stock book-wise, we can special order it for you, it just takes a day or two, there’s no additional charge.”
BookSmart’s hours of operation: Monday-Friday 9am-7pm, Saturday and Sunday, 10am-5pm, (with extended hours during the holiday season). Visit: mybooksmart.indielite.org or call: 408.778.6467.
