On Thursday Oct. 6 you published a rebuttal letter. Obviously I
must respond to that letter.

On Saturday Oct. 1, you published my letter to the editor in which I objected to the theory of evolution being taught as fact. On Thursday Oct. 6 you published a rebuttal letter. Obviously I must respond to that letter.
In my original letter, I mentioned two names, Brett Rowland who wrote the original article, and Mr. Schallhorn who was quoted about teaching intelligent design in a philosophy class. In the Oct. 6 letter, my character was attacked and I intend to respond.
First, so the people of San Benito County do not think that I am a liar, educational monies are given out based upon AYP and API scores. As your own story from last spring indicated, the teachers at SBHS who worked during the 1999-2000 school year received a bonus check for our test score improvement, and the district is given other monies which are used to fund various programs. One of which is the lunchtime intramurals program that I started three years ago.
Second, my letter expressed an opinion. The letter of the 6th has a final sentence, “You are the one who should be questioning your own belief system.” That sounds very much like a personal attack. But to the writer of the letter and to you, the Free Lance for publishing it, I say “thank you.”
In doing so you helped me prove my point better than I ever could have.
