Police arrested an 18-year-old man over the weekend in connection to the July 14 shooting homicide on Prospect Avenue in Hollister, according to Hollister police.
Shortly after the shooting in the 900 block of Prospect Avenue earlier this month, police had issued an arrest warrant for Francisco “Frankie” Cardenas. They arrested him Saturday in Hollister and accused him of homicide, according to a statement from the HPD.
A day after the shooting, police reported that the victim, Daniel Manuel Cadenas, 31, of Hollister, succumbed to his injuries and died at a Bay Area hospital.
According to the Hollister police statement issued shortly after the homicide:
A full search of the area was made by officers on the ground, including a Sheriff’s K-9 and a CHP helicopter. No suspects were located after the search. A second reverse 9-1-1 call was made to the residents after the perimeter check was concluded.
The Hollister Police Department is actively looking for two suspects. Suspect #1 is described as a Hispanic male juvenile, approximately 5’7’, with a medium build wearing a dark hoodie, baseball cap, dark pants and white sneakers. Suspect #2 is described as a Hispanic male juvenile, approximately 5’7”, thin build, wearing a white tank top and dark pants.
According to family members, Daniel Cadenas, who was known as “Danny Boy” to his friends and family, was in the area walking his dog on his way to the track at Rancho San Justo School. It was a common routine for Daniel, who was very health conscious and loved to play sports, to jog and exercise at the school.
The initial investigation has not revealed any motive for the senseless incident. The Hollister Police Department is asking anyone who witnessed any part of this incident or who may know anything about the shooting to contact the police department.
